Early Christians regarded people who believed in the existence of more than one god as __________. A. pagans B. barbarians C. mercenaries D. missionaries

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. Pagans. Pagans were people of the old faith, and were usually polytheistic, which means they believe in more than one god. Christians, however, are monotheistic, and believe that anything other than their belief is basically wrong. So they dubbed any non-Christian belief to be pagans. Just to mush them all up in one terrible umbrella stereotype.

Also just as additional information, a mercenary is somebody who is hired to kill someone for money. So if that ever pops up... Yeah.
