How did the United States respond to Japan's occupation of Indochina? The United States sent warships to the seas off the coast of Indochina. The United States froze Japanese assets and imposed a trade embargo. The United States refused to recognize the territory because it was taken in an act of aggression. The United States placed an embargo on all goods imported to the United States from Japan.
