HHi! My teacher just gave me a copy of some demo-questions that are similar in style of the ones on the upcoming test. The issue is that I don't really know how to fill in the grid... I can solve once filled in its just I'm really struggling with this. It is NOT graded btw :) Thank you so much!!! (This Is a link to the grid! I just need to find which coordinates each letter has) http://postimg.org/image/nodcyzrpn/ All I've got is A.) is at ( 1 1/4, 1 3/4) If you can could you maybe teach me how to fill in the grid.
the horizontal line (the one going across) is the x axis and the vertical line (the one going up and down) is the y axis. When plotting points, always start with the x axis. Each line is divided into 1/4 ths...can you see that ?
Now take a look at point B. Where does point B lie on the x axis ? It lies on - 1 3/4. Can you see that ? Where does point B lie on the y axis ? It lies on 3/4. So your points for B are : (-1 3/4, 3/4). Before I go any further, do you understand ? Do you have any questions ?
No.
But thank you for helping me!!
what part is it that you do not understand ?
Just filling out the 1/4 tha ON the grid.. I just get confused plotting the points and all
*ths not tha
just go along the x axis and see where that point is, then go along the y axis and see where that point lies.
But where do I start with 1/4 and all!!! I just don't know how to fill in the points
I can find the actual coordinates when I fill in the blank spaces with the 1/4 or whatever..
* whatever number or fraction
Hello?
sorry...someone came to the door. I am back now.
each line represents 1/4. But keep in mind, on the x line (the one going across)...if the point lies to the left of 0, then it will be negative. If it lies to the right of 0, then it will be positive. Also for the y line....if the points goes up from 0, then it will be positive and if it goes down from 0 then it will be negative. Take a look at point E. Now go along the x axis...each line is 1/4......so the E point on the x axis is 3/4.....count from 0 and since it is to the right of 0, then it is positive....first line is 1/4....second line is 2/4....third line (the one were the E is on, is 3/4. So the x axis point is 3/4. Now look at the E point on the y axis. Your going up, so it is positive. First line up is 1/4, second line (the one where the E is on) is 2/4, So your E points are : (x,y) which is (3/4, 2/4) Any better understanding ?
