Find the area of the shaded part?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the area of the trapezoid?

OpenStudy (bibby):

what are the dimensions of the rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The dimensions aren't given...

OpenStudy (displayerror):

The area of a trapezoid is given by \[\text{Area} = \frac{1}{2} (b_1 + b_2) h\] Where b_1 is base 1 and b_2 is base 2.

OpenStudy (bibby):

you have to find them out yourself

OpenStudy (bibby):

you can either use the trapezoid or the rectangle + 2 triangles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so I tried that I got the answer 18.88

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IDK if its correct...

OpenStudy (displayerror):

As @bibby said, you can just find the area of the rectangle instead of the area of the entire trapezoid.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I tried, when I got the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NVM, I think I got it. Thanks guys.
