Hey i need help please?it in the comment teacher give me this work sheet and i'm new didnt go over this at the old school i hate this teacher so much. this is a grade :(
so you need to find one of the other sides of the triangle... to do this you need to use trig.. specifically SOHCAHTOA so seeing that from the angles perspective we have the adjacent side we can do cos70=1.3/x then simplify from there to get opposite side. then use TOA or Tangent= opposite over hypotenuse to get the hypotenuse of the triangle:P
Quentin2112 you are correct in saying that cos(70) = 1.3/x but you don't need to use tangent since tan = opp/adj
oh your right thats my fault:P
im lost
have you learned about "SOHCAHTOA" ?
no
what math are you in?
its called math 1
if not, it's a shortcut to remember the trig ratios SOH = sine, opposite, hypotenuse CAH = cosine, adjacent, hypotenuse TOA = tangent, opposite, adajcent
in this triangle, you need to find the hypotenuse x |dw:1421292487451:dw|
|dw:1421292514050:dw|
so i dived 1.3 and x?
do you have a calculator? if so, then what is cos(70) equal to?
im lost is it 7 and 10?
no I'm asking you to use a calculator to evaluate the cosine of 70 if you have a TI calculator, you'd type cos(70). There is a "cos" button
.34
C? 3.8
@Directrix
sorry I was away for a moment cos(70) = 0.34 is roughly correct so, cos(70) = 1.3/x 0.34 = 1.3/x 0.34x = 1.3 x = 1.3/0.34 x = 3.8235
ok so C
yeah roughly 3.8 miles
thank you :D
you're welcome
