degree question? it is possible for the exterior angles of a regular polygon to each measure 8 degrees?
I don't understand what it means by "exterior angles"

i think they can be any number approaching zero as the number of sides approaches infinity
maybe
or 180
each exterior angle on a N sided polygon measures 360/N degrees
they add up to total 360 or 2pi
okay, 360/8 maybe??
solve 360/N=8
45-gon
a 45 sided regular polygon will have exterior angles of 8 degrees
n=45
is a 45 sides regular polygon possible??
yeah, any number of sides. A circle is the limit of a polygon as the number of sides goes to infinity, i think
i didnt know that!
Back in the old times, i think before PI and that, they approximated the area of circles using arbitrarily large number sided polygons
as the number of sides grows larger, the area moves closer to the exact value for the area of a circle
although , never reaching it
huh....that's really cool. I never knew that. I have two more problems with topics that are giving me a harder time. Would you be willing for two more? I can open it in a new thread and then asap close it.
ok, ill try
thanks
