OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

okay? with what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

post away.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sec

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

please note that you have to compute 7*6 first

OpenStudy (igreen):

Parenthesis goes first.. PEMDAS So multiply \(\sf 7 \times 6\), tell me what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

42

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

ok! now multiply it by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 x 42

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yes, that gives us: \(\sf 5 + 4 \times 42\) Now we are left with addition and multiplication, in PEMDAS multiplication comes next. So what's \(\sf 4 \times 42\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

168

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yes, now we add 168 + 5

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

then finally add it to 5, please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

173

OpenStudy (igreen):

You got it!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

that's right!

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

168+5=173 good!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

Remember to follow PEMDAS and start with multiplication, and do the adding last. Just like what you did you steps are 7*6 which is 42, then 42*4 and you got 168 then add 5 to get 173

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

@linda360

OpenStudy (anonymous):
