need help with Binomial Theorem will medal
\[(3+y)^{4}\]
Hi!!
are you supposed to expand this?
are you familiar with pascal's triangle? i am attaching a picture of it since the exponent is 4, we need to look at the fourth row in the triangle
well like do you know anything about the Binomial Theorem? Because that's what it is. Now I know that the numbers are like 1,4,6,4,1 but after that im confused
oh ok we got the 1,4,5,4,1 part
it is going to look like this \[(a+b)^4=a^4+4a^3b+6a^2b^2+4ab^3+b^4\]
you have \((3+y)^4\) so in your example \(a=3,b=y\)
ohhhhhh okay I think I get it. I think what confused me was I was like omg theres no a or b what will I do lol haha
lol yeah just plug them in except you will have to do some more arithmetic
\[(a+b)^4=a^4+4a^3b+6a^2b^2+4ab^3+b^4\\ (3+y)^4=3^4+4\times 3^3\times y+6\times3^2\times y^2+4\times 3\times y^3+b^4\]
you still have to find some numbers right? like \(3^4=81\) and \(4\times 3^3=108\) blah blah
@ispike you got it from here?
lol thanks I just submitted the question and I got it correct

@ispike thanks for the medal!!
lol no problem
