An equivalent fraction can be a simplified form of 8/12. Just divide the numerator an denominator by a common factor. For example, 2. What new fraction do you get when you divide 8 and 12 by 2? :)

Also note: You can tell two fractions are equivalent bc they give you the same decimal when you divide them. For example, 1/2 and 3/6 are equivalent fractions bc 1/2 = 0.5 and 3/6 = 0.5
