How many unique values of x solve x2 + 4x + 4 = 0?

OpenStudy (kamibug):

You can use the quadratic formula. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okat but its asking how many unique values? what does that mean @KamiBug

OpenStudy (kamibug):

It's just asking you to solve for x really. :P How many different numbers do you find x could be after using the formula? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after i did the quadratic equation i got the number x=0.828427124 and x= -4.828427125 so what does this mean?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

unique values of x ?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

they are called y-intercepts. (I would force to leave that school if I was your parent jk)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

didn't mean to interrupt, just to know what the values of x called, when y=0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KamiBug

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

oh, my man, x-intercept. apologize.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

continue, pliz... don't make me feel I broke it all...

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Thanks! @SolomonZelman I hadn't heard that expression much before either Lol :) When you plug the coefficients...|dw:1421366459073:dw|Simplify that a bit for me? @Shaekitchen
