Which of the following ordered pairs is a solution of y < 2x -6? A (0,5) B (2, -3) C (5, 8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just plug each ordered pair into the inequality to see if it works. A. (0,5) y < 2x -6 5 < 2(0) - 6 5 < 0 - 6 5 < -6 <--- Not true. So we can cross out A. B. (2, -3) y < 2x -6 -3 < 2(2) - 6 -3 < 4 - 6 -3 < -2 <--- True. This ordered pair works. C. (5,8) y < 2x -6 8 < 2(5) - 6 8 < 10 - 6 8 < 4 <--- Not true. So we can cross out C. B is the answer. :D
