The back-to-back stem-and-leaf plot below shows exam scores from two different math classes. What is the mode and mean for class A and the range and median for class B?

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

mode is the number that occurs most often mean is adding all numbers up and dividing by how many things there are.....range is highest number minus lowerst number and median is when you put all the numbs in that area in order from least to greatest and find the middle number...if there are two add them up and divide by two...ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok I am going to put the stuff in the way it is on my exam.

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

if you show me the plot i can help you figure it out in an easier way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am going to try to show you since I cant get it to save to my computer

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

lol...thats cool thats what happend to mine...i finally got it tho...lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Class A / / Class B 125678 / 4 / 12 2349 / 5 / 9 1148 / 6 / 249 1 / 7 / 15788 25 / 8 / 0344667 0 / 9 / 225 Key: 0|9|2 means 90 for Class A and 92 for Class B

I am going to ashworth college for the high school diploma program and just not good at algebra.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 3 exams to bring grades up on so I dont fall. I still have 4 midterms for Algebra 1 Part 1 & 2 to do so I can get my books for Algebra 2 Part 1 & 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

demonchild99 you there.

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

o im so sorry..lol..yea hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thanks for helping me.

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

ok for the mode...look at the first collum...what number is repeated more then all others?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

mmm...no..look at it again...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry 1

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

lol..yes...so the mode would be 41..right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i think

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

ok..so add all the numbers up in the collum a....and divide it by 18 and you have your mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add it to at

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

um i think so?...just add all numbers...41,42,45,46,47,48 etc..then divide by 18

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

and for range do 95-41

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1+2+5+6+7+8+2+3+4+9+1+1+4+8+1+2+5+0 add it up like this

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

no you have to add it up like 41+42+45 or else it wont come out right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I am skipping some numbers

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

i think im confusing myself and you....ok so if 1/4/5 is equal to 41 and 45 Class A / / Class B 125678 / 4 / 12 2349 / 5 / 9 1148 / 6 / 249 1 / 7 / 15788 25 / 8 / 0344667 0 / 9 / 225

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

just add them up like that....

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

@ganeshie8 please help me im confusing myself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Class a would be 41+42+4545

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

ok yes...

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

do you understand now?...im sorry but im behind on work and i need to go soon

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kinda understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

about what?

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

im sorry i told you wrong on mode...for class a

OpenStudy (demonchild99):

it would not be 41 it would be 61

OpenStudy (anonymous):
