Physics: initially, sphere A has a charge of -50e and sphere B has a charge of +20e. The sphere are made of conducting material and are identical in size. If the spheres then touch, what is the resulting charge on sphere A?

OpenStudy (shamim):

-50e+20e=?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

Please note that when the two spheres are in contact each other, the total charge on them is (-50+20)e=-30e. Furthermore, our spheres can be viewed as a capacitor whose electrical capacity is 2*R where R is the radius of each sphere
