I guess I'm curious because I have some questions: Why did you use AlCl3 and FeBr3 rather than just one of them for both of the first two reactions? And also, why not use the Clemmensen Reduction for the last step? I don't know if these would be better choices or not, I'm just trying to brainstorm here.

AlCl3 and FeBr3 are just the different catalysts you need for friedel crafts and electrophilic halogenation. And I dont think the clemmensen reduction works at a benzylic position
