I'm so lost .-. Word problem.... Sandy makes $2 profit on every cup of lemonade that she sells and $1 on every cupcake that she sells. Sandy wants to sell at least 5 cups of lemonade and at least 5 cupcakes per day. She wants to earn at least $25 per day. List two possible combinations of lemonade and cupcakes that Sandy can sell to meet her goal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Possible answers they give: a. (6 c lemonade, 12 cupcakes), (10 c lemonade, 6 cupcakes) b. (6 c lemonade, 13 cupcakes), (12 c lemonade, 2 cupcakes) c. (3 c lemonade, 19 cupcakes), (6 c lemonade, 13 cupcakes) d. (4 c lemonade, 16 cupcakes), (3 c lemonade, 20 cupcakes)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

You can use logic on this. What is the least amount of lemonade she wants to sell and which answers are then crossed out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get to that? XD I hate word problems........ lol. I hate math in general, but word problems are the worst.

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

The last 2 are canceled out obviously.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would how ever many lemonade it says times to and then add it to however many cupcakes they sold because those are only one dollar you wouldn't multiply those

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hm. I suppose.. lol. I'm so bad at math... .-. it's horrible... Thanks :P I need to get a tutor. I soooo don't understand this stuff >.< *sigh*

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

And the second one.

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

To get the answer just multiply each option and make sure that the amount of sold matches the word problem, (at least five each) and the money = more than $25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the second one? :P I thought we decided C was the answer XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh, ok makes sense. :3 Thanks XD

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

No, she wants to sell at least five each, C says that she only sells 2 cupcakes, not 5. its A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Gotcha XD Makes sense. Thank you. :)

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

No prob

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

Crap. I actually think thats wrong. Sorry

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

J57 was correct. The word problem is messed up too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya because she wants to make at least $25 and only c has both answers add up to that. and in c they are both more than five of each.

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

Depending on how much money she wants it would be c, if it was to sell more than 5 each it would be A.

OpenStudy (haleholmes):

In c the amount of lemonade is only 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ik math really well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

she got it
