Compare the number of male and female diploid cells needed to produce equal amounts of sperm and egg cells. please help!!!!

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

when one cell undergoes meiosis it forms 4 haploid cells. in egg formation, out of 4 haploid cells formed..3 degenerate and only 1 remains. and in case of sperm development all 4 sperms develop. so if u want 4 egg cells and 4 sperms. then u need 4 precursor cells for egg and 1 precursor cell for sperm,

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

precursor cells are the diploid cells
