OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

What do the three major foodstuffs - proteins, carbohydrates, and fats - have in common? Are these molecules the result of anabolic or catabolic processes?

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

i answered They all three provide energy.

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

@pooja195 is this right and if so what is the answer to Are these molecules the result of anabolic or catabolic processes?

OpenStudy (bowtie_man123):

i think it is right

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

So is it the result of a anabolic or catabolic process

OpenStudy (bowtie_man123):

i think so

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

Which one tho anabolic or catabolic

OpenStudy (bowtie_man123):

i dont know for sure but i think it is one of those

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Try think logically. You said they all provide energy, add some oxygen and we do a total oxidation of molecule to release energy. Now we want the opposite. We want to build "a high energy molecule" from less energy rich molecules. Remember what that process is called?

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

I think it is Anabolic

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Correct ^^

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Anabolism: to build up larger molecules from smaller molecules Catabolism: to break down larger molecules into smaller molecules. A good way to remember it if ever in doubt is to think about "anabolic steroids" as they build up muscles.

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

Thanksss :D

OpenStudy (frostbite):

No problem at all :)
