Every year, Eli and his family visits the great sand dunes desert in Colorado. Eli notices that more sand dunes with varied shapes and sizes appear each year. Explain what causes this phenomenon. @bohotness

thanks for the testimonial

no problem you deserve it ;)

THANK YOU and It's something to do with the weathering process. Eg. At night it's really cold, and in the day it's really hot. Because the temperature keeps changing dramatically day in and day out, the sand dunes start to be sort of hacked or re-shaped, or even formed. It's basically weathering due to changes in temperature.

OpenStudy (bohotness):

Sand dunes are formed by the wind blowing grains of sand from one place to another. The size and shape is not only determined by the wind but also the size of the grains (larger the grains, more wind required to move it.) Every sand dune has a windward (stoss) slope, crest, slipface and leeward slope. This makes it open to wind erosion which can change the shape and size rather quickly.
