Can someone help me simplify an expression? and explain how to..?

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

yep ill try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10a^2 + 12b^2 - 8a^2 + 2b^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jagr2713

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

ok give me a sec

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

I believe you can group em all

Nnesha (nnesha):

combine like terms

OpenStudy (jskhupmang):

exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain please?

Nnesha (nnesha):

add number with same variables and same exponent together 4 example 2b + 3b =<=== both number have same variable and same exponent 3b^2 + 6b^2 both variables are same and same exponent which is two so you can combine them 3b^3 + 4b^2 <=== can you combine this ??? NO bec variable with 3 have exponent 3 but variable with 4 have exponent 2

Nnesha (nnesha):

10a^2 + 12b^2 - 8a^2 + 2b^2 so which numbers have same variable and same exponent ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk

Nnesha (nnesha):

a for apples b for bananas now separate apples and bananas

Nnesha (nnesha):

which number have apples and numbers with bananas ?? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10a^2 + 8a^2 12b^2 - 2b^2 @Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

good now exponent is how many apples you have |dw:1421553366896:dw| so you can combine them
