Which value is a solution for the equation cot(x/2)=1? Please explain. Thank you!

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

OpenStudy (freckles):

do you know how to solve cot(theta)=1 ?

OpenStudy (freckles):

or you can plug and check

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

I think I figured it out is this right @freckles cot(x/2) = 1 1/tan(x/2) = 1 tan(x/2) = 1 x/2 = pi/4 x = pi/2 , 5pi/2 C. 5π/2is the answer

OpenStudy (freckles):

cool stuff

OpenStudy (freckles):

cot(x/2)=1 when x/2=pi/4 or 5pi/4 we can also include a whole bunch of other values so x=2pi/4 or 2(5pi/4) so reducing gives x=pi/2 or 5pi/2
