Subordinate clause, is a clause in a sentence that can't form a sentence on it's own.

~ I couldn't attend your birthday celebration \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm because~my~boss~gave~me~an~extra~task }\).
~ I came late to the class \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm and~got~a~zero~because~of~that }\).
