How do you solve real-world applications involving volume?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

That depends on the application. Please do not mass-tag, it is considered spam.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is no certain application

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Volumes are important in how many things you can pack together, how dense things are, etc. It's hard for me to classify some set of "volume problems"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thank you

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Example:"How should a can be shaped to hold the most food with the least surface area?" In this problem we would maximize the volume and minimize the area of the can.

welcome!
