William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” play is a romantic comedy, containing a heavy plot involving love affairs with character pairings and ending with happy reconciliation. Throughout the play, several types of character pairings are encountered. The central plot of this unique comedy focuses on love between characters: Viola, Olivia, Orsino, Malvolio, and Sir Andrew. Pairing between Viola and Orsino affects the course of the play, since Viola decided to lie about her identity- be Cesario. These characters (Orsino and Viola) have a small relationship between each other until the moment of identity revelation. Orsino’s relationship between himself and Viola affects other characters in distinct pieces of the play. Olivia is charmed by the gentleness when Viola (as Cesario) tells her how she would be wooing a lover. Soon, Orsino becomes interested in Viola’s (Cesario’s) love life. The relationship between a page and the duke is strong, hence, is deeply acknowledged when Feste the clown attempts to make Sebastian see Olivia, mistaking him for Cesario. Bonds, such as one between Duke Orsino and his page, are powerful predominances leading to the climax of the plot.
