Given square root of 4 + square root of 25 and square root of 4 + square root of 2 is one or both rational or irrational?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{25}=5\]an integer so rational

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also \[\sqrt4=2\] another integer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

only one that is not rational is \(\sqrt2\) because 2 is not the square of a whole number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok - so the first set is rational because both can be broken down evenly, but the second cannot because 2's square root is decimated?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it can't be written as a fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it can't be written as a fraction correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure i have ever heard it called "decimated" before though...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! :D Lol...think I meant not a whole number
