I need help ;-; Gravitational potential question.

OpenStudy (monsterisenergy):

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

You need to use the expression of the gravitational potential energy. Simply subtract the two values obtained for R and 2R.

OpenStudy (monsterisenergy):

I know that the expression is \[\frac{ -GM }{ R} \] But could you please show me the precise steps, because I have tried so many times and it just wouldn't come out right ;-; @vincent-Lyon.Fr

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Actually, distance from Earth's centre varies from r1 = 2R to r2 = 3R. This is probably what you have overlooked.

OpenStudy (monsterisenergy):

Thanks, I have already done that ^-^ Lol but for some reason I still couldn't get it right, perhaps I did a silly mistake in one of the steps, I will check again now, thank you so much!! :)
