please who can help me with an issue with my windows 8 system: i need to downgrade my internet explorer 11 back to internet explorer 10 and i cant find it among my default programs.
Why do you want to downgrade ? Is it because you need to test some program in IE10 only ?
You don't need to downgrade. Go to "modern.ie". They can help you test your site.
I need to downgrade it to enable compatibility with a web based application that runs locally within my office environment.
It's very difficult, often impossible, to downgrade IE because it is so integrated in Windows. I don't even know if it's possible to uninstall IE11 if you want, but even so it would probably leave components and dlls everywhere.... So @K_V8 is right when he says to use a virtual machine and download the right windows (with proper IE version) at https://www.modern.ie. These images are given by microsoft so it's legal and safe. Seems
There is one more thing you can do before you do all of this. You can use Internet Explorers developing tools. Open up the program that you made in IE. Press F12. Go to the emulation tab and you can emulate any browser. Or you can follow the procedure below: @maitre_kaio They are definitely legal and safe because I got that website from the Microsoft website. Microsoft used to have them on their website, but stopped hosting them on the Microsoft.com domain for some reason. You can also use the snapshot type thing there too. @seunjon Using these virtual machines you can copy files from the Host to the guest. You must enable the network settings first. When you enable network settings, the guest will show up as a computer itself. You can then transfer the file/files and run on the virt machine. Use http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3702 . This will give you Microsoft Virtual Pc. It will install as an update. Then you can download the Virtual Hard drives from modern.ie (Will ask to extract, extract to the location you want them stored on)(will extract as .VHD file). On Modern.ie there should be steps to use them. It will be a pain to downgrade so I would cast that thought.
Thanks K_V8. the F12 developer tool was helpful, with the emulation of an earlier version. i was able to achieve what i wanted. Please how do i save the new changes, so i don't have to do the same thing each time i open IE.
But you should be aware that this emulation is not perfect. You could stumble upon different behaviors between a real IE10 and those "emulated" IE10. The only real emulation, 100% reliable is through VM. But maybe this is enough for your needs, I wish you so !
