Sheila’s bill at a restaurant is $12.60, and she wants to leave a 15% tip. How much will Sheila pay in total? Will medal and fan the first to answer the question (or help me to do so.)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

move the decimal point 100% = $12.60 10% =$1.26 5% = ? (halve 10%) add the last 2 10% and 5% to get the tip then add it to $12.60 all done without a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So $0.26 + $1.26 = $1.52 $1.52 + 12.60 = $14.12? Did I do that correctly? Thank you very much for the help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12.60 x 0.15 = 1.89 then add 1.89 +12.60 = 14.49 total.

Thank you!

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well just check 10% = $1.26 so 5% = $0.63

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I see. So then add $1.26 which is $1.89, then add $1.89 to $12.60?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

correct
