What happened to plantations after the civil war? Did they get larger? Cut in half?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Usually plantations either were cut in half, or put out of order completely. This was because of the growing number of slaves that either ran away during the course of the war, slaves that simply left, and plantation owners that either died or lost all their money in the war.
