Jethro is planting flowers in his garden. He wants the ratio of tulips to roses to be 2 to 1. Jethro wants to plant a total of 27 flowers. How many tulips should he plant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so for every 2 tulips, he will plant 1 rose. There are 27 flowers to be planted. Do you know how to set up this equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i do not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, there are many ways you could solve this. One way that is long but tedious is to draw out 27 flowers. then count out how many tulips there would be, like I did in the attached document.
