devout hindus believe that the vedas were given to people by the gods. how does that make the vedas different from the buddhist scriptures?
From what I know, Buddhists do believe that there are one or more Gods. However, these Gods, or this God did not create the earth. They're caught in Samsara like the rest of us, which means that a Buddha (somebody who achieved Nirvana and escaped Samsara) has a higher status than a God. I am not sure what the vedas are. but I believe that it's some of the holy texts of Hindiusm. If I am right on that, it differs in the way that no buddhist believe that the buddhist texts are written by God. They're all man made, and a lot of them are dedicated to the original buddha, whom, as I've already said got a higher status than the gods or devas. Please ask if there's anything else
