without graphing is each system independent dependent or inconsistent?
-x-3y=0
x-y=4

(i know the answer but how do you figure out which one it is??? the answer is independent)

To find the answer, we can just rearrange the two equations into slope-intercept form, which will tell us the slope..

Slope means everything when you're talking about this..so if the slopes are the same, the lines are parallel or the same, which means they're either inconsistent or dependent. If the slopes are different, they're independent.

And independent is correct.
