What is the measure of the missing angle? http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1564000_1564500/1564444/1/f59fba614a069150a814cd21f2eee21dcec2dd4e/MS_IMB-1401012-11002012.jpg

What do the degrees of a triangle add up to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

86

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help @EmogirlAtEmoooocow

OpenStudy (emogirlatemoooocow):

is there a answer choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it is type it in

OpenStudy (emogirlatemoooocow):

Oh just add the 2 numbers then u get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The angles of a triangle should add up to 180. So, you have \[52 + 34 + x = 180\] Solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 84 or 86

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Neither. Add 52 and 34. Then subtract 180.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

94

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bingo.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thanks can you help with one more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the measure of < 3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah of course!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is very similar to the previous problem. If all angles of a triangle add up to 180. What are the angles of the triangle you have in question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i solve this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

44 and 66

OpenStudy (anonymous):

66+44+x (angle 3) = 180 Solve for x. x=180-66-44

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it should be 170 but the angle that they are asking for is an acute as you can see in the picture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You got it, keep going. To solve the angle we had before we just added the angles we DID know and subtract 180. Same thing in this one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, you're subtracting 66 and 44 from 180.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got an 80 thanks so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Exactly!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem. Best of luck and remember that about triangles and you'll be able to find the unknown.
