mathslover (mathslover):

Yes! Go ahead. Am here.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

\[5^3\div25-5\]

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

My answer was 25......HOw is that wrong?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Never mind...Yes. I need help.

mathslover (mathslover):

\(\color{red}{5^3} \div 25 - 5 \) We will first solve the term in red.

mathslover (mathslover):

\(\color{Red}{125} \div 25 - 5\) Right?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Yes which we get 125.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Yes.

mathslover (mathslover):

Good. Now we will solve the term in blue : \(\color{blue}{125 \div 25} - 5\) = \(\color{blue}{5} - 5\) Right?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Oh....It's 0..Omg, I feel sooo dumb!!!

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Thanks!

mathslover (mathslover):

Naah! Don't feel dumb. Maths is fun.... it helps you itself... just love those numbers and they will direct you accordingly! :D

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ya. I love it too..But it makes me ssoo mad when I can't get the right answer.

mathslover (mathslover):

You might have done that question as : \(\cfrac{5^3}{25} - 5 \) \(\cfrac{5 \times 5 \times 5 }{5 \times 5} - 5 \\ \cfrac{\cancel{5 \times 5} \times 5}{\cancel{5 \times 5} } - 5 \\ \cfrac{1 \times 5}{1} - 5\\ 5 - 5 \\ \bf{0} \)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Oh ya!!! I see. Makes total sense now....I'll be back in a few. But thanks for the help!

mathslover (mathslover):

:-) You're welcome.
