Find the height of the triangle shown. Are of a triangle = 1/2xbh. Where b is the base and h is the height of the triangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 2c^2-4c+8 B. 2c^2+4c+8+(32/(c+2)) C. 4c^2+8c+16+(32/(c+2)) D. 4c^2-8c+16

what is the dividend and the divisor ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dividend; number being divided by another number. Divisor is the number used to divide anther number without a remainder.

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

lol i mean ur question has title synthetic division so what u want to divide with ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the title on my 5 question test so I thought that's what I had to do for this triangle problem, but that's all it gives me.

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

can u post a screen shot of ur question with diagram

It just says to select the height from the drop down menu. I wrote the choices up there as A.B.C.D.

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

\(\large \begin{align} \color{black}{A=2c^3+16\hspace{.33em}\\~\\ b=c+2\hspace{.33em}\\~\\ A=\dfrac{1}{2}\times b\times h \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ 2c^3+16=\dfrac{1}{2}\times (c+2)\times h \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ h=\dfrac{2(2c^3+16)}{c+2} \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ h=\dfrac{4(c^3+8)}{c+2} \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ h=\dfrac{4(c^3+2^3)}{c+2} \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ }\end{align}\) now use the formula \(\large a^3+b^3=(a+b)(a^2-ab+b^2)\) for \(\large c^3+2^3\) and simplify and get the answer
