Well religion is the way people believed so if a person is faithful to the Pope the use money to so called help there dead family or to buy there way to heaven so they would lose lots of money on the Pope. But the people like Martin Luther who are only faithful to God spend the money on things like bibles or others thing they use to get to know God so those are some way they live different and waste there money on so I guess that's one way to put it! Hope this helps.

people were also encouraged to read the bible... which resulted in an increase in literacy
