Im super confused on this one! the factors in the expression 3(x+y) are 3 and (x+y). 
Am i showing distributive law? Or can you help me come up with an example?

Oh, I was wrong on the terms. There is technically a multiplication sign between 2 and x so the factors would be 2, x, and 3
