Give an example illustrating the distributive law, and identify the terms and the factors in your example. Explain how you can identify terms and factors in an expression.
I had an idea but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. 18a+96b 6(3a+16b) Terms are found spaced by addition and Factors are for multiplication.
@sleepyjess please help. You helped me understand the last one so well.
just a min
\[A*(B+C) = A*B+B*C\]
I agree with what you put :)q
what would my terms or factors be?
The factor is 6 because that is what is outside of the parentheses.
And terms are just the different things in the expression. For example, the terms in 2x-3 are 2x and -3
Actually, it is 2x and 3
I am glad I helped you understand the other one :)
Im super confused on this one! the factors in the expression 3(x+y) are 3 and (x+y). Am i showing distributive law? Or can you help me come up with an example?
How about this one? 4(x+5) 4*x+4*5 Shows distributive law The Factors are 4,x,and 5?
@sleepyjess
Oh, I was wrong on the terms. There is technically a multiplication sign between 2 and x so the factors would be 2, x, and 3
