7 yrs = 12 books
8 yrs = 24 books
9 years = 48 books
10 yrs = 96 books

so at 6 yrs, he read 6 books....at 10 yrs he read 96 books...so he read a total of (96 - 6) = 90 books between the ages of 6 and 10.

every year the books he read doubled....you multiply it by 2....6 x 2 = 12, 12 x 2 = 24...and so on
