In the secret life of bees novel, you have, by now, discovered the protagonist, or main character. You have probably developed a certain level of connection to or empathy for this character. Since narratives have conflicts, there are also, typically, characters who work in conflict with the protagonist. Try to "get into the head" of a character who works against your protagonist. Then, writing in the first person point of view, compose a piece as if you are this character, and reveal his or her feelings about the protagonist.
