I don't understand what to do with e here. I entered Calculus without precal and am at a loss for this constant. What do I do with it in this question, for example? Use the graph of the function f to state the value of each limit, if it exists. If it does not exist, explain why. lim x->0- f(x) lim x->0+ f(x) lim x->0 f(x) f(x)=1/(1+e^(1/x) )

Graphing it makes the answer obvious, yes. But I'm more asking what e is. For example, in this one. I hope I'm making sense Guess the value of the limit (if it exists) by evaluating the function at the given numbers (correct to six decimal places). lim t->0 e^5t - 1 / 5 t = +/- 0.5, +/- 0.1, +/- 0.01, +/- 0.001, +/- 0.0001 When I see the e I do not know what to do, or how to calculate it. What steps I must take to make it something I can understand/work with

e is a transcendental number just like pi e = 2.718..... I hope that makes sense... so in this question to power of e is variable..
