Read the quotation from Lincoln Steffens’s The Shame of the Cities. "My purpose was...the see if the shameful facts, spread out in all their shame, would not burn through our civic shamelessness and set fire to American pride." Which of the following best describes Steffens' purpose in writing about government? ~ to encourage Americans to feel more pride in their government ~ to describe corruption in city and state governments ~ to describe why city and state government officials made certain decisions ~ to encourage Americans to revolt against their government
is this a test
No it's not. Sorry for the late response. I haven't been looking at my computer.
I don't really know about Lincoln Steffen, but from reading the quote you posted and googling a little about him you can find out that he wanted to help and strived to capture peoples attention for political reform. Furthermore, taking an educated guess I would say that the answer is B. I hope that helps some! Good Luck!:)
B is the one that made the most sense to me. Glad to see someone else thinks the same.
Yes, that answer does! See you knew it! You're smart!
Thank you by the way. It was correct.
No problem! and ohh goodie, don't thank me you knew it all along!:)
