Is it correct to say:"May I help you?"

OpenStudy (kelseypalmer08):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you are an employee at a store or something it would be correct to say, "how may i help you?" if you are an employee at a hotel or suite, and someone is lost, it would be correct to say, "may i help you?"

Thanks, more than sufficient both ;)

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Very correct =) 'May I help you' is a lot more proper than 'Can I help you'. It has a more kind of a tone Take a look 'May you pass me the paper' - 'Can you pass me the paper' 'You may go to the bathroom' - 'You can go to the bathroom' etc etc etc

Thanks now I even clearer :)
