Dia de los Muertos


This day intrigued me because a couple years ago I lost my grandparents and I celebrate it because I feel I get to be close to them on this day. Every year my family gets together and we all celebrate for the entire family member that we have lost in the past. We were all upset that we lost our grandparents it really hurt at first because we all loved them. This is why I really wanted to pick this tradition to write about. I really like to celebrate my grandparents on this day because they were the best and these are some things we do on this day of celebration.
         
   Dia De Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico’s history  and around the world in other cultures. This holiday is also focused on the gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. The home of this holiday came from Mexico but people like our family celebrate it at our home and decorate our houses in some of the things our grandparents stuff in remembrance of them.
          We also listen to music on this day of celebration to celebrate the great life that our friends and family that have left this world. Also we dress in masks and costumes that symbolize the dead and the living co-existing in harmony. Another tradition that is celebrated on this day is there is a huge parade in Mexico celebrating the life we have and the life that our loved ones had before they left us and we take pictures of our people that have past and we take them on the parade to celebrate all that they have done for us in the past.
           These are many of the reasons why I chose this day as my topic for this essay and these are some of the many traditions that people do and that I do to celebrate. Also another very important and big reason that I chose this topic, the reason is because I have lost friends and family and this day makes me feel closer to them when I celebrate and pray for them. This day intrigued me because I lost my grandparents and I feel close to them every year on this day. So that is why I chose this day and tradition to write about.
