I need help with a few bio questions, someone help me out please?
Sure thing, what's up?
Question 18. 18. A student notices that a group of ivy plants growing in a cool room of a building grow at a different rate than a group of the same kind of ivy growing in a warm room in the same building. The student wants to find out why the two groups of plants grow at different rates. Explain how she could carry out an experiment using all of the steps of a scientific process.
Alright, so first off, what is the scientific process? Can you tell me? (I know, but I need to know you do too)
To be honest I have no idea, I pass all the past but I don't know much though.
The Scientific Method is easy as 1,2,3! 1. Ask a Question 2. Do Background Research 3. Construct a Hypothesis 4. Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment 5. Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion 6. Communicate Your Results http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_scientific_method.shtml
So now you think, what is the question?
Lost even more
First, form your question. You want to know "Why do the two groups of plants grow at different rates?" That is step 1.
Do you follow that? :D
im still lost sorry
Alrighty, no worries. So the question is asking you to find out why the plants are growing differently, right?
yea
That is the first step of the Scientific Process. Find your Question. Now on to step 2. Research
?????????
You don't have to research just because you're explaining HOW you would do it. Not actually doing it. " Explain how she could carry out an experiment using all of the steps of a scientific process." So just say, "The student would need to research how temperature affects plant growth."
So do you see how we are breaking up your problem 18 into 6 steps? 1. Ask a Question 2. Do Background Research 3. Construct a Hypothesis 4. Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment 5. Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion 6. Communicate Your Results We just did Step 1. "Why do the two plants grow differently?" Step 2, which we are doing now, is that the student has to research the effects of temperature on the growth of a plant. Are you lost? I have all night, don't worry about it ok? :D
um im i think so
So next, the student has to do step 3. Form a Hypothesis. A hypothesis is an "if then statement" So for your question, a possible Hypothesis could be "IF the plants are exposed to colder temperatures, THEN they will grow slower than plants exposed to warm temperatures."
now i get it
Dōmo arigatōgozaimasu
Yay! I'm so happy for you! So do you need help with the final steps, or are you all good from here?
im good
19. Describe the role of photosynthetic organisms, such as plants, in converting the energy of light to energy that can be used by all living things including the photosynthesizers themselves. Be sure to follow the flow of energy from the sun to living things.
photosynthetic organisms are the only organisms that can convert light energy into useable energy for other organisms like you and me.
got it!
20. A pet store has two guinea pigs. One has white fur and one has black fur. The white guinea pig has two recessive alleles for fur color (bb). The black guinea pig has one dominant allele (B) and one recessive allele (b) for fur color. What will most likely be the phenotypes of the offspring in a cross between the two guinea pigs? Explain your answer.
Have you learned how to draw the Punnett Square yet?
no

Have you ever seen one of these? Can you fill it out?
yes
Is that all?
@AnimeGamerGeek A medal would be fabulous please. Thank you!
