a train is traveling at a constant speed. the table shows the distance the train travels at different times during the trip. how fast is the train traveling? [ ]mph hours 3/5/7/9 miles 495/825/1155/1485
@bibby
mph = miles per hour = miles/hour, for miles plug one of them in and for hours plug in the corresponding number of hours
no need for subtraction
oh god what is happening to my brain
sorry, thanks bill
np
ima little confused how do I plug in the corosponding numbers ?
miles per hour read it out loud
3 corresponds to 495, etc
5 hours corresponds to 825, etc
traveled 495 miles in 3 hours, then its traveled 495 miles per 3 hours or 495 miles / 3 hours
so I add then to get the answer?
495/3 divide
495 divided by 3 =165
yep, thats the answer :)
you can divide any of the corresponding miles and hours and it will give you same number
thanks so much bill ive been stuck on this for about an hr
no problem
always remember the word per you can think of as division, so you you have miles per hour that means miles divided by hours, to get miles per hour
okay thanks again :)
