What impact might legalization have on forensic science as a field?
legalization of marijuana
Please close this question :D
@EclipsedStar Why? It is a valid question and does relate to the social sciences. @gnrfan Not much. Did you know that both cocaine and opium are legal? There are 5 basic categories to controlled substances: Schedule I, Schedule II, ..., Schedule V. Of these, only Schedule I is illegal for use in any way, shape, or form under Federal law. This includes heroin, GHB, LSD, Ecstasy, and several others. Marijuana is in this list, but why is something people argue over. Schedule II has opium and cocaine as legal pain killers. However, their use outside of legally allowed restrictions is illegal. If marijuana was changed from I to II, abuse would still be illegal but medal research would finally be legal. Then more answers as to what it was medically useful for, what dosage, etc. would be easier to develop because doctors would not be risking their medical license every time they issued a prescription.
