My medal count is wrong. Can anybody help me understand why?

Somebody posted in this F Forum that when a person's user id ends in a non-alphanumeric character, then the medal count malfunctions. Later, I met a dude who lost all his medals because he had to change his user id.

@Directrix The username having _ does not mess up the medal count.

Having a wierd symbol in your username makes it so that you don't have a SS for example:

Incositencies in medal numbers can happen for a few reasons. Medal awarded then removed is one. Another is sub topics where it shows up twice in some counts but once in others.
