OpenStudy (j2lie):

A triangle's three angles are in the ratio of 5:7:8. What is the measure of the smallest angle? I don't know how to set up the proportions.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

"A triangle's three angles are in the ratio of 5:7:8" that means the angles are 5x, 7x, 8x for some number x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the angles add to 180 5x+7x+8x = 180 solve for x and use x to compute 5x to get your answer

OpenStudy (j2lie):

thank you.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome

OpenStudy (j2lie):

Is the answer 45?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes it is

OpenStudy (j2lie):
