anyone taking geometry class in flvs please help

Directrix (directrix):

What is the question? I might be able to help.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

k hold on

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

If students are allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets, then they will be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

i have to write an inverse, converse, and contrapositive statements for the original statement ^^^. i've tried and can u check if i did it right?

Directrix (directrix):

Yes. Let's see what you did.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

If students are not allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets, then they will not be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course. that's inverse

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

Students will be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course, if students are allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets converse

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

Students will not be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course, if students are not allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets contrapositive

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

am i right? @Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

I was distracted by @ganeshie8 's reply at http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5335a75ce4b0b47fca856352 ------------------------------ it should say something like below :- converse : If students are able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course. then the students will be allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets,

Directrix (directrix):

The task seems to be to write the converse, inverse, and contrapositive of the original statement.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

oh okay got it thanks :)

Directrix (directrix):

We should have established p and q at the outset: p: If students are allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets, q: they will be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course.

Directrix (directrix):

And, that is the original statement p -->q.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

They will not be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course If students are not allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets, that's contrapositive right?

Directrix (directrix):

Contrapositive: ~ q --> ~ p If they are NOT able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course, then the students were NOT allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets.

Directrix (directrix):

The original statement and the contrapositive are logically equivalent which means that they say the same thing in different ways.

Directrix (directrix):

I will write what I get for inverse and then we can check. I get lost in the words if I do not follow this symbolic logic stuff. So, I am not trying to improve on your work, just trying to keep mine straight.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

so, the "if" statement should always come first cuz that's the only difference between my answer and urs

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

If students are not allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets, then they will not be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course. that's what i got for the inverse

Directrix (directrix):

Inverse, ~ p --> ~q If students are NOT allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets, then they will NOT be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course.

Directrix (directrix):

Did we get the same result?

Directrix (directrix):

I'm going to write a converse. I don't know about the one I copied from the thread.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

yes we got the same answer :)

Directrix (directrix):

Converse: q --> p If they were able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course, then the students were allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

ok thanks u so much again i really appreciate ur help :)

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

thank***

Directrix (directrix):

I think that is okay.

Directrix (directrix):

I'm going to add a thanks to @ganeshie8 for helping us to see the task clearly.

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome. I feel connected to FLVS now.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

lol :D
