Which European astronomer definitively proved the heliocentric theory with his law of universal gravitation? Isaac Newton Johannes Kepler Galileo Galilei Nicholas Copernicus

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

Think about this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

galileo?

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

saint nick....

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

theres your hint

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u think its nicholas c?

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

yes:)

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

wait what is throwing me off her is the universal gravitation part

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

no its Nicholas Copernicus

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

Newton was the one that created the law of universal gravitation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wasn't galileo an astronomer tho?

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

Newton's law of universal gravitation states that any two bodies in the universe attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

I'll give you an article here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copernican_heliocentrism

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

That is proof read it:)

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

Isaac Newton had nothing to do with the heliocentric theory

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copernican_Revolution " finally ending with Isaac Newton’s work over a century later."

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

only the universal laws of gravitation

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

Newton was a contributor to the Copernican revolution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question is who proved it so its either galileo or newtown

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

a contributor not the creator;)

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

"Proved" it says nothing about creating in the question

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

I would go with D dude

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

Which European astronomer definitively PROVED the heliocentric theory with his law of universal gravitation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i think you're right because it was newtown with the law of universal gravitation

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

its asking about who proved it not created it

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

whos right?

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

I'm serious i would go with D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was going to go with D but then i re-read the question and its asking who proved not who created

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

law of universal gravitation was discovered until a century AFTER Copernicus

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Tricky Questions...

OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

^

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Look, Newton created the Universal law of gravitation. With that he proved the heliocentric theory. Did Nicholas create the law of gravitation, therefore naming it as "his own?" No. Tricky Question, but there is proof to why A is correct. @caitlinnr14 is 100% correct c:

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Nickholas may have created the heliocentric theory, but did he really prove it? And if so, did he prove it using the gravitational law?

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

c: @camerondoherty

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

cx

OpenStudy (caitlinnr14):

who was right... 0-0
