y = total cupcakes, x = hours she takes to make them, and you also know that in 1 hour she will have at least 24 cupcakes, so we say:
so many cupcakes are equal to at least 24 cupcakes per hour, in x hours + the 48 she already made:
y = 24x + 48

there is a key word with 24 which is "per" meaning that 24 is slope

exactly, is just a slope formula as @Nnesha says, that is y= mx+b, per suggests a rate, and slope is a rate of rise over run if you wanna look at it that way
